At the time of its inception, the Superior Cabinets Fusion Finishes on MDF represented 10% of sales. Since its launch in 2010, and after several years of market acceptance and growth, it now represents 50% of sales.

WHY WERE THE FUSION FINISHES ON MDF CREATED?

The Superior Cabinets Fusion Finishes Collection was developed out of pressure to compete after the global recession in 2008, which put significant pressure on the business. As homes became smaller, the need for lower cost options increased which drove the demand for wood alternative cabinets.

Since Superior Cabinets had excelled at MDF cabinet finishing, the dedicated team at Superior Cabinets believed they could create a handcrafted product in-house that competed in the same price category as other wood alternative cabinets such as Laminate and Thermofoil. The team experimented with staining Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and then applying several rounds of hand chalking, eventually arriving at the perfect product that we now offer.

INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED

Fast forward to today and you will find MDF Fusion cabinets by Superior Cabinets in many homes in Western Canada. One of the most significant accomplishments for Superior Cabinets was winning the BEST OF KBIS – PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD at KBIS (Kitchen and Bath International Show) in Orlando, Florida in 2017. All Fusion finished cabinets are hand-finished by a team of talented artisans in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada.
