Mudroom Design

Tips & Tricks

Mudroom Design | Superior Cabinets Blog

Ask any Kitchen Designer about one of the most exciting and challenging areas to design in a home and they’ll probably mention Mud Rooms.  Don’t get us wrong, kitchen design is still very exciting, but there’s nothing like working on a challenging opportunity in a smaller limited space, where functionality and lifestyle is essential.

Mudroom design is much like closet design.  It incorporates many of the same concepts in relation to convenience and efficiency.  It is important to design these areas in a fashion that allows for functional storage solutions, and ease of use for day to day life.  Mudrooms are gaining huge popularity in new homes, infill’s and renovations.

A recent example of a mudroom design we completed, incorporated beautiful design and functionality for the family.  Cabinetry was installed at the back entrance that lead to the garage, as the family uses this entrance the majority of the time.  Tall cabinets allow for storage of coats and other hanging items as well as shoes.  Upper open shelves were added to store baskets for off season items. A bench was incorporated where they could sit to put on shoes and lower drawers were added for easy access to store commonly used items. Hooks in the open space allowed for the children to easily hang everyday coats and backpacks so they don’t end up on the floor.  The layout in the area from the garage into the home was intended to marry fashionable, smart design with day to day functionality.

Superior Cabinets offers many solutions for closet and mudroom design as well as kitchens, bathrooms, family rooms and entertainment spaces.  Visit one of showrooms for design ideas, meet with one of our Design Experts and start planning your dream space.  For those of you who are ready to go and have your space measured, don’t forget you can always book an appointment online with one of our Designers!
