Our product development and manufacturing teams have been working hard to bring you some new and exciting cabinet finishes for early 2018.
NEW COLOUR EVOLUTION
Bringing out new colours and cabinet finishes takes time. First, our teams work on determining which colours homeowners will love for their cabinetry. This stage of the process involves input from customers, our designers and the colour experts from our supply chain partners.
They then move on to the product development stage. Once an accepted proof of concept is completed, the team moves to the product testing phase which involves achieving consistency and repeatability with that product. Once the product or finish has met our quality standards we send samples for rigorous finish testing to ensure a long-lasting, durable finish. The finished parts are tested against the following:
- Accelerated Natural Wear and Tear
- Hot and Cold Testing
- Substance Tolerance
- Long Period Exposure to Detergent and Water

Our dedicated teams work with our various supply partners including Sherwin-Williams to help us identify trends in other industries such as paint and coatings. Many of these industries are influenced by home décor, flooring, automotive and the fashion industries.
WHAT’S NEW FOR 2018?
Colour, colour and more colour! Our trend spotters are seeing injections of colour in more permanent selections such as cabinets, this trend is especially hot in Europe. For quite some time colour was reserved more for items that could easily be changed such as accessories and decorative accessories.
NEW MDF PAINTED CABINET FINISHES
We are introducing seven new and vibrant opaque painted cabinet finishes on MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard). All of these cabinet finishes can be produced on our one-piece MDF doors styles which can be found here.
FUSION NAVAL:
Is a deep romantic blue which became popular in 2017. This is the perfect selection if you are looking to add a bit of colour that is timeless, without being over the top. Fusion Naval coordinates beautifully with lighter ice blues, whites, greys and suede taupe colours. Inspired by Sherwin-Williams paint code SW 6422.
FUSION OPEN AIR:
Is a soft, subtle light blue colour that is an up and coming colour on the scene. Consider this colour on an accent island or a whole kitchen if you are feeling bold. This colour also is a great choice for bathroom and laundry room cabinetry. This colour coordinates really well with neutrals and antique whites. Inspired by Sherwin-Williams paint code SW 6491.
FUSION RAIN DROP:
Is another light blue, as you can see, we had a hard time selecting just one. Again, this would be perfect as an accent colour in a kitchen or for that special person that isn’t afraid to show some flair. Give Fusion Rain Drop a try if you would like a light blue with a green undertone, as it pairs really beautifully with greys, bright and antique whites and medium smoky dark blues. Inspired by Sherwin-Williams paint code SW 6485.
FUSION AQUITAINE:
Is a stunning medium blue. We think this would be great for a full kitchen or accent cabinetry, such as coloured lower cabinets or an island. Pair this colour with light ice blues, butter whites or pale yellow wall or accent colours. Inspired by Sherwin-Williams paint code SW 6485.
FUSION OYSTER BAY:
Is muted sage green colour with a grey undertone. We think this would be perfect for a whole kitchen, as it is colourful without being too dramatic. Complimentary colours include light sage greens, light neutrals and warmer taupe colours. Inspired by Sherwin-Williams paint code SW 6206.
FUSION SHERATON SAGE:
Is a robust green color with a yellow undertone. Greens are definitely on trend for 2018. Consider this colour for a built-in, island or accent cabinetry. Pair this beauty with warmer light and deep greens that have a brown undertone. Inspired by Sherwin-Williams paint code SW 0014.
FUSION ROYCROFT:
Is a deep bronze green colour. This would be a perfect selection for a whole kitchen in a cottage or cabin. Fusion Roycroft pairs gorgeously with medium and copper red and terracotta colours. Inspired by Sherwin-Williams paint code SW 2846.
If you are thinking of mixing painted cabinetry with wood cabinetry, these new colours pair very well with our many of our wood stain cabinet finishes, especially those with grey undertones.
NEW MAPLE CABINET FINISH
MAPLE CAFÉ:
It has been a while since we have released a new stain on Maple, which makes Maple Café really special. It’s a rich dark brown with a red undertone. This stain is a perfect choice for those that aren’t afraid to show their dark side.
NEW THERMOFOIL CABINET FINISHES
WESTPORT LINEAR ASH:
If dark grey and black is your thing, this will be a clear winner for your cabinetry. This is available in a Vertical or Horizontal grain option.
WESTPORT FIRESIDE:
If you fancy a warmer brown colour but don’t want to go too dark, consider Fireside. This is a textured Thermofoil material and is available in a Vertical or Horizontal grain option.
WESTPORT SANDALWOOD:
If you fancy a mid-tone light brown colour that is a little bit warm and a little bit grey, this is your best choice. It really comes to life because of the grey undertones giving it an almost barn wood feel. This is available in a Vertical or Horizontal grain option.
WESTPORT DALIA:
If Mid-century modern is your style preference for your kitchen cupboards, Westport Dalia is a great choice. It also pairs well with a contemporary vibe.
WESTPORT EMPIRE:
Warmer auburn brown colours haven’t been as popular in the past few years, but we suspect they will become more popular with the introduction of this colour.
WESTPORT BRANDY:
Another chocolatey brown colour, guaranteed to warm up your cabinets.
WESTPORT GAUNTLET GREY:
Is a beautiful opaque platinum grey colour, perfect if you prefer more modern cupboards for your space.
WESTPORT OPTI GREY:
Is a cooler light silver grey for those that enjoy the industrial look.
WESTPORT DIVA:
Is another white and grey textured Thremofoil finish, but has a bit more warmth. This is available in a Vertical or Horizontal grain option.
WESTPORT POLAR ICE:
Is cool white and grey textured Thremofoil finish, perfect for a more modern environment. With the modern texture of this material, we recommend Polar Ice in our Antonio/Slab Door style in a Vertical or Horizontal grain option.
WESTPORT MIST:
Is a bright clean white, perfect if you want white cabinets and are on a tight budget.
