One of the top asked questions we receive from our kitchen renovation customers is where to start or, “what do I need to consider before a consultation.” When starting to consider a kitchen renovation it is very important to know what issues you would like to resolve, how you need your new space to function and have an idea of what you would like to end result look like.
Make a wish list, look through design images and jot down the pros and cons of your current space.
WHAT DO YOU HATE ABOUT YOUR CURRENT KITCHEN?
Determining what problems occur in your current kitchen and knowing what features you want to include help us to create a space that will ultimately be more functional for you. We want to make sure your new kitchen is as functional and efficient as possible.
CONSULT YOUR CONTRACTOR BEFORE YOUR KITCHEN DESIGNER
As a kitchen designer, when starting to work on a plan with a customer we do need the space’s wall dimensions, ceiling height, placement of windows, doors or any openings and where appliances are going to be located. If you plan to have any walls removed or relocated, it is important to contact a general contractor or renovator before we start discussing your plans. We would not want to design you something that in the end cannot happen structurally.
APPLIANCES THAT FIT THE SPACE
Appliance shopping is also something that should be done before meeting with a design consultant if you are going to be purchasing new appliances. This does not mean you have to purchase your appliances, but it is important to have a look around to see what you like, do not like, and what you would want to incorporate into your space. The amount of space your appliances are going to require plays a huge part in configuring your kitchen design.
