Renovations can often be overwhelming for homeowners; many know only that they want a new look, but do not have a clear idea where to start. That is my job to help them sort that out. I worked with a customer who wanted to do a whole home renovation, including the kitchen and bathrooms. The homeowner and I worked very closely to determine the size of the kitchen, and what cabinetry would be included. Once they had removed the interior walls from a very dated and cramped kitchen, and installed new windows, they had a wide open space that needed to be finished.
An island with a large work surface was of high importance in this project, one with lots of storage included as well. We designed this island with cabinetry on all sides, and with an overhang of the countertop as well, so stools could be tucked underneath. Since they had removed the existing built in closet/pantry, a tall pantry was included beside the fridge, giving the homeowner additional storage space. The customer chose Maple French Roast, a dark, rich finish to compliment the stainless steel appliances. The finished result was a stunning transformation from the old and tired kitchen to a beautifully rich looking and much more functional living space that flowed nicely from other parts of the house.
Opposite the kitchen are the dining area and the formal living room. The whole room is now wide open, creating a more inviting and inclusive feeling. This is now a room that can be shared by all members of the family as they go about their daily lives.
