So the countertops have just been installed on your brand new kitchen. You’ve wiped down your kitchen cabinets, cleaned them out and life is finally starting to get back to normal. As you carefully unbox the relics of your old kitchen, you start to notice that some of your old cookware, utensils and kitchen accessories have lost their lustre being out shined by the radiant glow of your beautiful new kitchen. You probably should have replaced some of those things years ago, but the hoarder in you told you to keep it because you might need it someday. Sound familiar?
The truth is that everything might need to be replaced, potentially the budget has probably been exhausted with the some of the add-ons you have included. Purchasing necessities in small quantities is probably the best plan here. If you happen to be looking for some new knives for your kitchen, here are 3 knives every kitchen should have.
3 Knives Every Kitchen Should Have:
Chef Knife: It’s substantial, versatile and perfect for chopping veggies, carving meats, etc. Because of its substantial size, it’s great for chopping large quantities. Investing in a good quality Chef Knife is always a sound investment. This our personal favourite and is a “go to” in the kitchen, you can easily annihilate anything. Now if it could only help with precision chopping!
Paring Knife: The small but mighty knife. This one is perfect for peeling and paring fruit and cutting citrus fruits. You can even use it to crush garlic and ginger. This a my love/hate knife; it’s great for what it’s need it for, but be careful if you lack the proper dexterity, confidence and precision to use it like a top chef.
Bread Knife: The unsung hero! It has one essential task, to cut bread products like a boss. They are long, narrow and serrated that will get the job done. Bagels, crusty or soft breads, even meats, this is your knife. You can also use your bread knife for slicing through softer produce such as tomatoes, etc.
Other Honourable Mentions for your kitchen cupboards:
Cleaver: Excellent to de-bone your meats or to prep your hard veggies like squash, where you need the robust strength and power of the cleaver knife. Your new kitchen cabinets will be happy you splurged and picked one of these up.
Fillet Knife: Your essential fat trimmer and filleting fish of course.
Happy Chopping!
